ST. JOHN’S, Antigua, June 02, 2012 – LIAT’s regional full cargo service is making significant strides as it serves the French, Dutch, Spanish and English-speaking islands in the Caribbean.
During the course of this week, LIAT’s dedicated Freighter aircraft transported more than 21 tonnes of flowers from Colombia via Barbados to the French Islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique supplying Florists with an abundance of flowers to satisfy thousands of mothers on Mothers’ Day which is celebrated on June 03 in the French Territories.
“This is a perfect demonstration of the tremendous capability we have since our improved cargo service and the introduction of our dedicated Freighter aircraft on February 01, 2011,” Director Cargo & Quikpak Wilbur Edwards said.
“In this same week, we operated a charter from Barbados to Grenada for one of our regular clients in the UK to transport high end food supplies from Europe to stock a mega yacht in Grenada. We also moved from Trinidad to St. Lucia then operated to Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic and to the Dutch & French island of St. Maarten – all in the same week”.
In comparing our tonnages for April 2012 with the same period last year, LIAT Cargo has tripled its deliveries and is very proud to be in such a unique position to serve such a diverse group of clients in the Region.
“We hope to further grow our cargo product as we have demonstrated to the people that no other carrier serves the Region better,” Mr. Edwards said.
“We are confident of the support of the business community given our excellent track record in such a short time after the introduction of our Freighter aircraft,” he added.
