ST. JOHN’S, Antigua, May 01, 2012 – The Chairman of the LIAT Board of Directors, Dr. the Hon. Jean Holder, has dismissed media rumours that a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) has been appointed for the airline in the wake of the announcement by acting CEO Brian Challenger that he would be resigning from the post at the end of June.
“Absolutely no one has been interviewed, appointed or promised the job of CEO at LIAT,” the LIAT Chairman said, adding that “it is the Board of Directors’ intention, beginning immediately, to conduct the search for an appropriate candidate to serve as LIAT’s CEO at this critical juncture in the airline’s development.
“Mr. Challenger remains on the jobs for the next two months following which Chief Financial Officer Mrs. Julie Reifer-Jones will act as CEO until such time as arrangements for the appointment of a new CEO have been finalized,” the LIAT Chairman added.
LIAT is one of the leading Caribbean airlines. It is owned by regional shareholders, with major shareholders being the Governments of Barbados, Antigua & Barbuda and St. Vincent & the Grenadines. More information about LIAT may be found at www.liat.com.
