ST. JOHN’S, Antigua, March 04, 2010 – The man who has been at the helm of LIAT’s Human Resource Department for just over a decade, William Tomlinson “Tommy”, retired from the company at the end of February after 36 years with the regional carrier.

Mr. Tomlinson joined LIAT in 1974, nine years after entering the airline industry through Pan American World Airways.

Throughout his tenure with LIAT Mr. Tomlinson worked in almost every department in the company and was promoted several times during his career before being appointed Director Human Resource and Security in 1999, the position he held until his retirement.

“Looking back, it was a privilege to have worked with some great people and a great company,” Mr. Tomlinson said during a recent luncheon hosted by the company’s Executive Management Team in his honour.

LIAT’s Acting Chief Executive Officer Brian Challenger was among those paying tribute to Mr. Tomlinson who was described as a colleague, brother and friend.

“He has left a very positive impression in terms of his commitment to this company and his commitment to employees,” Mr. Challenger said.

Meantime, Director Ground Operations, Cargo and Quikpak, Wilbur Edwards and Director of Schedules and Special Projects, Lesroy Browne - two other long-serving

LIAT employees - praised Mr. Tomlinson for his role in guiding the company through a difficult period.

Mr. Browne also paid tribute to Mr. Tomlinson whom he said had a calm demeanor and a fantastic memory.

“Tommy was able to share his wide knowledge and experience with nearly every person who was employed throughout the LIAT network over a period of several years,” Mr. Browne said.

“Tommy has given yeomen service to the Company. He made the airline business his career and I wish to salute him as a senior statesman in the business,” Mr. Browne added.
